Teachers need to understand young learners’ cognitive, linguistic, and emotional aspects because this will play a crucial role in how the teacher achieves the objectives of a lesson, and how young learners respond.

As teachers, we should draw on all the characteristics that kids bring to school, and systematically link them to the activities that we use with young learners.
